Turkey Vulture

Cathartes aura
Ever wonder what a Turkey Vulture looks like up close? Seeing them high above the highway while driving to Kitchener yesterday reminded me of this portrait I made for my Birds of Prey book. These scavangers are well adapted to picking apart carcasses but they seem so serene as they soar effortlessly above, searching for the smell of death below.
